Are you in need of some help visualizing your idea/ concept in 3D? Or do you want to achieve the perfect image for your marketing, but traditional photography is not able to achieve the look you need? Rosbergen Designs can assist in creating the perfect 3D-visualization of your product.

Art direction

Before the project can start, the scope should be defined. With the art direction, a mood board will be created that defines the intended style, references of the object and preferably some real world dimensions.

Modelling

The first step in creating the product is creating the geometry of the model itself. Starting with primitive shapes (cubes, cylinders, spheres etc.) the basic forms of the object can be created. With the primitives in place, details can be gradually added until the desired shape is formed.

To achieve the best results for 3D-visualizations, a subdivision workflow is the best practice. For this workflow, it is necessary that the mesh is all quads and has correct edge flow.

UV-Unwrapping

Before texturing can take place, the model should be divided into UV-islands with seams. This process is called UV-unwrapping, which enables the 2D-texture to wrap around the 3D-model as you would wrap a present.

Texturing

With texturing, photo-realistic materials are going to be achieved. Besides giving the model basic colors and roughness, minor imperfections should also be implemented, since that is the same as in real life. For example, the main body of the boots is a suede material, which has a noisy structure. This noisy structure results in a slight height and roughness variation, which results that light interacts differently with the material. This detail should be captured in the texture maps so that when the light is added for the final render, the material feels real.

Scene building

To give an appealing presentation of the product, a scene should be around it. This scene helps deliver the message of your product.

Lighting & Rendering

To present the product in the best way possible and highlight its features, lighting should be appropriately applied. By using a correct HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image) or a correct studio lighting setup, your product will shine on the image.

Post-processing

To get the final touch up after rendering, post-processing is necessary. In this stage, the final color correction and filters are applied so that the render becomes a piece of art.
